A Toast to My 2017 Reads

I spent most of my time (and money) on books this year. As 2017 draws to an end, a lot of us are doing reflections of the past and stating resolutions for the future, you know the whole “new year, new me” shebang. In the past 24 years of living, I know I can’t board that bandwagon, for I always reflect (read: dwell) on my past and have near-panic attacks when I think about the future.

While I’m hesitant to ring in 2018, the only thing that makes me look forward to enter the new year is my pile of unread books. Also, I have a strong feeling that my pile will grow because homegirl has zero self-control when it comes to books.

Books will certainly be a common denominator between this year, next year and the years to follow (if the world doesn’t end, that is).

I guess the only reflecting worth doing for me is on the books I read in 2017 and the quotes that made me attached to my paper friends. My reading habit includes folding the edge of the page where a particular sentence resonated with me and sometimes I jot it down (or use it in Instagram captions. Sue me i’m a millennial).

Psst, if you don’t like literature spoilers please don’t click the “continue reading” button. And yes, I refer to books as ‘paper friends’. Sue me in bibliophile court.
